T he United States beat Australia 2-0 in their Group D fixture at Seattle Stadium, where 66,925 watched the hosts take a firm grip in the first half.

Early own goal

The USA went ahead in the 11th minute when Cameron Burgess turned the ball into his own net under pressure.

Freeman doubles the lead
