The defensive depth carries Moussa Niakhaté, Abdoulaye Seck, Ismail Jakobs, El Hadji Malick Diouf and Krépin Diatta across the back line. Mané leads an attack with options
In attack Senegal again look to Sadio Mané. Around him sit Ismaïla Sarr, Nicolas Jackson, Iliman Ndiaye, Assane Diao and Bamba Dieng, with Chérif Ndiaye and PSG teenager Ibrahim Mbaye listed among the forwards. The mix gives Pape Bouna Thiaw both Premier League and Ligue 1 pace on the wings, and a true number nine option through Jackson.
Group I and the schedule
Senegal arrive in Group I alongside France, Norway and Iraq, one of the heaviest groups in the tournament. The Lions of Teranga will treat the opener against Norway and the third game against Iraq as the realistic points-on-the-board fixtures, with the France match as the test that defines the seeding for any round-of-32 path. Senegal's best World Cup result remains the quarter-final reached in 2002.
