Jonathan David Hat-Trick Caps Canada Rout of Nine-Man Qatar

Jonathan David scored a hat-trick as Canada thrashed nine-man Qatar 6-0 in their Group B clash in Vancouver, with the Qataris shown two red cards.

C anada produced an emphatic 6-0 win over Qatar in their Group B fixture at BC Place Vancouver, where 52,497 watched Jonathan David complete a hat-trick against opponents reduced to nine men.

Early control

Cyle Larin opened the scoring in the 16th minute and Jonathan David added a second on 29 minutes. Qatar's evening worsened when Homam Ahmed was sent off in the 33rd, and David struck again right on half-time for 3-0.

Qatar down to nine

Qatar lost a second man when Assim Madibo was dismissed in the 51st minute. Nathan Saliba made it 4-0 in the 64th, and an own goal by Mohamed Manai added a fifth in the 75th.

David completes his treble

David rounded off the rout with his third goal in stoppage time, sealing the 6-0 win.

Group B

The result sends Canada top of Group B, where Switzerland beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1 in the other fixture.
